My Grandparents chose to love each other when they met as teenagers, and then, they chose to love each other every part of every day, through the Great Depression, through absence during war, child rearing, work, illnesses… Life. Finding TRUE love? They met… And That was it. Again, the true love part was a daily choice whether either was as attractive or as exciting as the day they met. True love depends on each person, not just the one you find or the one that finds you. In other words, Love is a Choice, because we are not 110% lovable 24 hours a day. True love is when each person sees that real life is not like a romance movie script True love is accepting the fact of real life, which brings creative challenges that, with the choice to love, can increase attraction. Popular novels, songs, shows, movies… Each have scripts that are no doubt, inspired. The talented people that write and act, the hundreds or thousands of people that are the list of credits at the end of a movie – from the accountants to the doctors to the musicians and screenwriters – They work on projects that, as finished masterpieces, may often have coincidental similarities to your definition of romance and the most often undefined and over-used phrase… “true love” Again, the credits behind movies, books, shows and songs… include a lot of people. Why, because such productions are intentionally crafted to touch our deepest self. So, they are edited for perfection, music and effects and colors …

Part One (A Boy) Born in Louisiana (Napoleon Country, the Mafia Birthplace, Bottom of the Map) into a Family of honor, respect, loyalty, crime, hustle, and power, is where the Priest Pepone Story starts. At a tender age, a quarter of his family moved West, some in California, the rest in Las Vegas. Louisiana would always be home, but one Priest didn’t see or know anymore. This southern boy was placed in the middle of a Gangsters Paradise, where he would soon become lost fast. The Eighties is where Old Vegas and New Vegas Collided, this was the era of ‘Out with the Mafia’ and ‘In with the Corp’ but it wasn’t an easy era. Drugs were on the rise, Gang Violence was up, Cash flow was up, and everyone was down, the entire Clark County. Vegas was a close knit town, not a city, and there was a world outside of the Fab Strip & the Glitter Gulch. This world, North LV (NorthTown) West LV (Westside) and East LV (Eastside) is where Priest existed, this is where Priest Pepone made his bones as a child. No longer lost this was home. While some Family members worked in The Casino Hotels and Gambling Halls, others worked on the strip, or in the street, and some did both. Priest grew up family first, with principles and that was his life. No doubt he had talent & creativity, but he had a undeniable temper. A trouble maker in kindergarten, grade school, and in the local community, he didn’t back down, didn’t bite his tongue, was violent, was slick, was charming, and was well ahead early …

Bless them, they have done their best but Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley is no Vegas. Up late again so crashed till 8:30, it’s very quiet so hard to tell the time. Bit of a drama first thing as we discovered the Tioga Pass in Yosemite will not be open for Memorial Weekend, ie when we need it. All the northern passes are still closed and the alternative route through the north of the park is about 9 hours drive from Mammoth where we are staying. So re-planned the route to go south round the park and decided to do the sequoias earlier and the west coast pacific road from San Francisco to Los Angeles sometime next week. We changed a hotel booking and lost one as non refundable, the price paid for heavy snow this year. We left the room after a kerfuffle with the key which had auto locked us out at 11 and left our Luxury International Suite with our dusty cases and wal-mart carrier bags. By the time we had done a postcard hunt, surprisingly hard in Vegas, we drove up and down the strip for some more pix. Tina takes so long trying to get a shot we create a traffic jam… Anyway we got a few more and headed west out of Las Vegas – Going to California …

Entry from: Las Vegas, United States Entry Title: “Las Vegas” Entry: “Finished off this part of the trip with a visit to Zion NP (which means place of serenity) we did several hikes, Colin while posing for a photo behind a waterfall, managed to drop his Leke walking stick over the edge into the canyon…..didn’t fall too far (about 30′) a couple of young amercan lads bounded over and said ” do you want me to get your stick for you sir” ……..Colin with his pride badly dented said “nope” I’m not that old he muttered as he clambered down, slipping & sliding while Kim couldn’t look and of course the French tourists took photos !! but came back victorious…. Then on to Vegas, which is devoid of any sort of peace or serenity……found a great cheap motel just off the strip near MGM grand, using the monorail to get around we explored the huge hotels. We were visiting at same time as the Star Trek convention was in town, they are weirdos…..and a lot of Brits !! but we had to take part, so ended up on the rides being beamed up and fighting Clingons & the Borg (several times as tickets lasted all day)…..had a guy banging on the door at 4am in morning, decided not to open it and called for support….was it a burglar ? rapist ? murderer ? NO just a drunk who was in the wrong hotel block.. Shows were …

Entry from: Las Vegas, United States Entry Title: “Viva Las Vegas” Entry: “23/2 – Well Las Vegas continued to razzle and dazzle with its 24/7 activity. On Thursday morning we rose and ate at RJ’s favourite place – the Circus Circus all you can eat buffet. Then we set off on foot down to the other end of the “Strip” or Las Vegas Boulevard. This is quite a way with many hotels and attractions to see along the road. We picked up tickets at Excalibur then went on to Caesar’s Palace where we were amazed at the replicas of roman landmarks and statues everywhere. Miles of shops in the Roman Forum although window shopping was about all we could afford! We picked up our Bette Midler tickets then proceeded to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Strip. For dinner we were back at Excalibur for the Tournament of Kings involving performers in full medieval costume, acrobats and strong men & pretty maidens. There was jousting and acts of skill and bravery and of course the evil dragon king for us all to boo at. Our King was Francois from France who was the last king standing at the end until the dragon king’s evil team “took him out”. Thankfully the good son of King Arthur – Sir Christopher – rose up and prevailed to win the night or knight – whichever way you look at it, it was great fun. We tackled the Strip again …
