After spending the day at SMX we made it to top of the Stratosphere just in time to ride Insanity before it closed. It was cold and rainy in Vegas the entire week (this was during feb), but this was a bright spot!

They have a new ride coming. You ride down the side of the tower attached to a cable. Prior to this, the latest attraction was gamble your life savings away, then jump off the Stratosphere. I guess the metal safety cable eliminates the finality of the previous version!

Stratosphere’s new SkyJump Las Vegas thrill ride will be the jump of your life — no matter what you might be yelling. For your inner adrenaline junkie wanting the ultimate Las Vegas free fall, sky dive or base jump, SkyJump is the attraction to choose. It provides the highest controlled free fall in the world, all from the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower. Before the jump, riders are prepped and suited up in Stratosphere’s custom jump suits and given a safety lesson. After a short elevator trip to the top of the Stratosphere Tower, the jumper is connected to a high-speed “descender” and led to the edge of the platform. Views from the inside Observation deck, the Air bar, claimed to be one of the highest bars in America. The rides are crazy. We went on Insanity, after a few drinks from the Air bar which really helped our nerves. Great exprience.
