Again, I still cannot get inside the guest elevator because the security check the elevators 24/7 because of many incidents happen at Bellagio. The sign outside of the guest elevators read: “Only registered hotel guests beyond this point. Please be sure to present your room key. Entry from: Amarillo, United States Entry Title: “Getting Our Kicks on Route 66″ Entry: “After getting a couple of messages from some friends we decided to take a quick detour to Las Vegas for the night to visit them. Vegas isn’t that bad of a drive from the North Rim but the temperature change shocked us — at the Kaibab Trail the temp was 67 degrees as we dropped down and started going through Desert Springs the temperature rose to 112! We stopped at a gas station and when we got out of the car it was like entering an oven. People say it’s a dry heat like that’s supposed to lessen the impact of feeling like a turkey on Thanksgiving Day! To each their own I guess, but I prefer my 90 degree humid days to this 100+ desert dry heat. After flying through the desert we made it to Rich’s — who is an excellent host. We all caught up and rode down the strip which is a totally overwhelming sensory experience — lights everywhere — rollercoasters around the New York New York hotel, ladies in skimpy dresses advertising for a Poker exhibition, pine and spruce trees on casino grounds defying the logic of the desert, a small airport in the middle of the Strip for the mega-rich executives — your mind is struggling to keep up with all the images of “hey that isn’t supposed to be here!” Vegas is so over the …
