Wise Guys Love Seattle

Article by Lynda Collins

Pittsburgh is a solid Super Bowl XL favorite, but Seattle appears to have strong pockets of support among Las Vegas’ gaming elite.

“I had dinner the other night (at the Stardust) with some of Vegas’ fine young handicapping minds, some very talented guys, and everyone liked Seattle,” said internationally-known sports gambler Lem Banker, clicking off names like Steve Fezzik, Andy Iskoe and Nick Bogdanovich, an ex-bookmaker who is well-established on the betting side of the counter.

They’re the Sin City wise men and not, as Banker might point out, the ones from Jerusalem.

Animal-lover Lem, who never met a dog he didn’t like, is riding the Seahawks (He’s also on the UNDER) and taking the points, but just how many points is difficult to say.

The number is creeping up and Banker’ll wait to wager, figuring that way he’ll get the best of it.

“The wise guys don’t have a great record in the World Series and Super Bowl,” Banker continued.

“(That’s partly because) the hotels are forced to move money offshore.

“Pittsburgh is the big public favorite now and the public number is 4 1/2.

“I’m going to wait to play and get value.”

“That’s the way it works,” said Stratosphere Race and Sports Director Robert Jaynes.

“The public bets the favorite while the smart money waits until it sees a good shot, then moves in and takes the dog.

“They (wise guys) look for value.”

The Stratosphere, one of Bogdanovich’s former “homes,” is still at Pittsburgh minus 4 even.

“We’ve changed the juice, not the number,” noted Jaynes, who reported seeing 4 1/2s and 5s around town at resorts such as Rampart Casino and the Golden Nugget.

“I don’t think it’ll go any higher than 5 1/2,” Jaynes forecast, “because 6 is such a key number. Same with the 4.”

Veteran Las Vegas handicapper Andy Iskoe thinks the number could reach 5, but quickly will submerge again.

“I think a lot of the sharp money will have to settle for 4 1/2,” Iskoe said.

“My question to the opposite side is: ‘What has Seattle done to make you think it doesn’t have a chance to win?’”

Jaynes personally leans toward the Steelers, citing strength of schedule.

“I worry some about the coaching, though,” he said. “(Mike) Holmgren has been there before and has won a Super Bowl.

“He’s experienced.”

Count Jack Snyder, assistant race and sports book manager at Sam’s Town, in Seattle’s corner.

“I’ll take the Seahawks and the points,” he said.

“The Steelers have been an underdog all year. Now they’re the favorite and the pressure’s on them and they have to win by more than 3.

“That makes it two possessions, unless you’re talking touchdowns; a field goal won’t do it.”

Jaynes thinks the game will be close, “But history suggests it will be a boring blowout.’

“People talk about strength of schedule because Seattle had two games with Arizona, the 49ers and the Rams, and they all had poor seasons.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the best of the Seahawks yet.

“They aren’t the road warriors the Steelers are, but they have things working for them.”

Seattle has an MVP running back in Shaun Alexander, a fast, mobile quarterback in Matt Hasselbeck and a good offensive line.

“I really like those two guards who are Pro Bowlers,” Snyder declared.

The total widely opened at 48 and as high as 49; it rapidly was bet down to 47 1/2 (at one time, when the game was listed merely as an AFC-NFC matchup, the over/under was 45).

As one bookmaker put it, “It’s now 47 1/2 at 20,000 places and 47 at 20,000 others.”

“Our players have been betting UNDER, not just on the total, but a lot of other things, like number of field goals,” Jaynes said.

Iskoe, a totals player who likes to go UNDER, predicts a score of 34-23 (Seattle) so obviously is OVER on this one.

“I think there’ll be a lot of passing and that Pittsburgh will play very aggressively,” Iskoe explained.

“There’s my justification.

“It won’t be an incredible Super Bowl, but it won’t be incredibly bad either.”

Winning Slot Jackpot Stories

Article by Gayle Mitchell

If you are looking for the true ‘dream makers’, that award goes to the ever-increasing progressive jackpots.

I have compiled 5 of these Winning Stories to brighten your dreams tonight.

Vegas Big Hit

“Nothing is sweeter than winning .2 million in downtown Las Vegas,” says cab driver Robert Baker as he showed off the very large ceremonial check to tourists on Fremont Street.

The Elvira, Mistress of the Dark slot at the Golden Nugget Casino was the largest hit on a nickel slot machine and sets a new world record for the denomination.

“I play nickel progressives,” Baker said. “They are my favorites and it really paid off today”.

After coming down, Baker says he will again be behind the wheel of his taxi as usual. “I need to take some time to figure out what I’m going to do from this point, and going about my life as usual seems like the best way to keep my feet on the ground”.

One item that’s a sure buy and a lifelong dream is to buy a Lincoln Town car.

LA History is Made

The largest slot jackpot in the history of LA Gaming at Delta Downs Racetrack for ,718,983 was a gigantic payday for Kyle Hilton DeVillier, a game warden from Schiro, TX.

DeVillier, 43, had played only on the Wheel of Fortune slot with in credits remaining.

“I had weak knees”, DeVillier said, after realizing he had become a multimillionaire. Future plans include a larger home and sending his two children to college.

Tahoe Shines

“I’m lucky here at the Horizon,” said Marin. “I have won a couple of jackpots, but never anything like this one”. Cesar Marin was still in shock with his millionaire status after hitting a Wheel of Fortune MegaJackpot for ,948,093 at the Horizon Resort Casino in Lake Tahoe.

The winner from Sacramento, CA played the machine for about 15 minutes before his huge payday. “I knew right away that I hit the big jackpot, but, I’m still in shock,” said Marin, who with his brother Jose owns and operates a concrete company. He further stated that he treats his parents to trips to Lake Tahoe often. “Life has certainly changed in an instant with this huge jackpot, but I will try to invest the money wisely. I’ll just have to let all this set in before I decide. I do know that I’m going to help out my family”.

Thanks for the College Fund, Mom

Kathy Losada, 42 of Boca Raton, FL enjoyed her Vegas getaway even more with a Wheel of Fortune Megajackpot win of .6 Million at Caesars Palace.

The new millionaire said she had been winning consistently during the trip, but wasn’t prepared for the ‘big one’.

She immediately called her two teen-age children to tell them to pick out a new car “to share”.

Also, leaving her health care industry job was on her mind. “I’d like to be a stay-at-home soccer mom until my kids finish school. The 20-year annuity will ensure a college education,” said Losada.

“There is nothing more heartwarming that a big jackpot that makes possible a college education for two accomplished young people” said Caesars Palace President Mark Juliano. “We wish Kathleen and her family all the happiness in the world”.

For herself, Lodada said she intended to visit the exclusive boutiques at Caesars Forum Shops and maybe splurge on a Louis Vutton purse.

Lucky Sevens Again

Caspar J. Guida of Brooklyn, NY won ,161,019 on a Millionaire 777′s progressive Slot machine at Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.

A big fan of this slot, Mr. Guida becomes the second person to hit the top Millionaire 777 jackpot in AC.

As luck would have it, this winner was waiting to be paid for a smaller jackpot he’d just hit at a nearby slot when he decided to try the same game with another 0.

The investment paid off with a super progressive jackpot. While he has no immediate plans for the money, the retiree said to onlookers that he intends to throw a big party for his friends and family.

His choices are to either receive his winnings in one lump sum or have it paid out in annual installments over the next 20 years.

Advantage Vegas

Article by Evan Moss

Andre Agassi, world reknowned tennis player, was born and raised in Las Vegas, USA – the little known quiet small town side of Vegas that taught him anything is possible. He grew up there, he still lives there, and he’s happy to share it’s secrets with you…

He once blazed across the court in day-glo clothing and long hair, wowing crowds with his unique base line game. But Agassi has always been a down-to-earth guy, and now resides in Las Vegas with his two children by wife Steffi Graf, also a tennis star of yesterday. Although he still travels to many tennis tournaments, he has made sure to leave a legacy to his hometown: around 250 students and educated at the College Preparatory Academy set up by Agassi, and he also has the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation, an organisation that has raised an impressive 35 million dollars for children’s charities to date. Here’s a weekend in the city where Andre Agassi learned to win.

There’s a lot of activity going on in downtown Vegas, even though most people think of ‘the Strip’ when they think of Vegas. “When you go downtown you find yourself somewhere where you can park your car and have that old feeling of just stepping two feet off the street into a casino that basically has no doors”, says Agassi, adding almost as an afterthought “…and the lights are incredible.”

Agassi also part owns the Golden Nugget casino. “I’m involved with some friends that I grew up with, which is exciting”, says Andre. “I’m second generation here [and the] people I’m involved with are third generation Vegas. The Nugget is among my favourite casinos in Vegas because it’s so ‘old Vegas’”. Asked to name any other favourite hotels or casinos, Agassi cites the Bellagio. “It’s difficult to find better than the Bellagio, although that said every place offers its thing. Celine Dion virtually lives at Caesars Palace these days. There’s this incredible lounge/bar called The Foundation with a deck area overlooking the city, sitting at the top of Mandalay Bay. I could go on… I will. Because there’s also this place with incredible music acts called “The Joint”, that’s at The Hard Rock Hotel.”

I asked Agassi where he goes first after getting home from a tournament or appearance (always a telling question). “I need to eat, and fortunately Vegas has come so far in it’s dining options and cuisine that there are loads of good restaurants to choose from. There’s this place at the Venetian called Delmonico, their stake is divine… easily the best in the city. I love Nobhill at the MGM Grand. For a meal with the family I always go to a place called Summerlin in Sedona. Um, I’m a partner in it actually. So I’m mildly biased (laughs)… but I love it, going to this place that you helped create just feels like home”".

For 30 years the fastest-growing city in America, Las Vegas is a city of great vision. Says Agassi – “The community of people who actually live in Vegas is strong, very strong. And it thinks that you can create anything or make anything happen as long as you actually believe in that thing enough. It’s like Disneyland for adults.” Never a truer word was said.

How to choose Best casino in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada, is the world’s greatest gambling city in the world. The most famous casinos are located at the South end of the Las Vegas Boulevard, the Strip. Most of the casinos are connected to large hotels or resorts. If you go to one of these casinos, you should be aware that they are constructed in a way that keeps the customers inside. Therefore most of the casinos do not have any windows or clocks. This way the visitors can lose the track of time and stay much longer in the casino. What makes a casino good? Is it the games on offer? Is it the atmosphere, the food, the drinks or the showgirls? Or is it a combination of all of the above. Below is a list of the best casinos in America. Why don’t you visit them and have a look for yourself to see what makes them so great. The “Best Strip Hotel” selection is the Bellagio according to the readers and Caesars Palace as the RJ pick. The Bellagio continually is the readers pick while Caesars Palace continues to update and re-invent itself. For the Downtown area, the reader’s pick is the Golden Nugget, the crown jewel of downtown which provided many updates this year such as the Shark Tank rising out of the swimming pool, new buffet, Lillie’s Noodle House and more.

Almost every large Las Vegas casino has hundreds of slot machines, several Black Jack and Roulette tables and Poker rooms. In the most famous casinos, you have the chance to meet some of the most famous poker players as well. Almost every famous poker player plays frequently in one of the noble casinos. But you should bear in mind that playing against the best players is the safest way to lose money. The best way of winning money in Las Vegas is to play against tourists. In most cases they are inexperienced and make a lot of mistakes. You will find them in all casinos that are close to the FSE or the Strip. There are some bus shuttles that can take you to the most famous casinos in Las Vegas from the cheaper hotels offside the Strip. Every casino offers a player’s card for every player. The card documents all your moves in the casino and gives you access to the slot machines and gambling tables. In most of casinos you will get some discount depending on the money you spent in the casino. ome of the most popular games on the iPad will undoubtedly be casino games. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as if you can play these games for real money yet. However, there are a few casino games which let you hone your skills, play with your friends, and otherwise have a lot of fun.

All of the hotels feature their own special dining choices, from buffets, coffee shops to gourmet rooms. The “Best New Restaurant” category went to the Hachi Modern Japanese located in the Red Rock Hotel Casino as the Reader’s choice and the B&B Ristorante in the Venetian as the RJ’s pick. The Bellagio is luxury casino located in Vegas that is famous for its 8acre lake between the building and the strip that has fountains known as “The Fountains of Bellagio” they are basically fountains with lights and water that “dance” in sync with music. Inside you can also see the “Fiori di Como” an art piece that compromises of2000 hand blown glass flowers that take up 2000 sq feet of the lobby ceiling.
