First, if you are a group of guys looking for an entry into a Las Vegasclub, just spread yourselves out among several different groups of ladies in line. The best way to make sure you DON?T get in the club is to be pushy with the doorman.

The Las Vegas Strip – A Living Icon

Article by Troy Truman

The Las Vegas Strip is one of the most iconic areas in the world. The resorts and attractions along the strip are recognizable to just about everyone. Despite the fact that it is just over four miles long, the Strip has a lot to offer, most of it within walking distance.

Supposedly named after the famed Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, the Las Vegas Strip is home to some of the most well known hotels and casinos in the world. The flashing neon lights are enticing to to travelers as well as the around the clock action that have been lurering adventure seekers for decades.

The first casino on the Las Vegas Strip opened its doors in 1941. What started then was a legacy of entertainment that has not been matched by any other city. The cycle of demolition and rebuilding has kept the Strip exciting and new. While organized crime may have provided a boon
to the gambling industry in the forties and fifties, the Strip that exists today has become a much more family friendly destination. Aside from gambling there are world famous shows and plenty of shopping. TheLas Vegas Strip hosts almost 40 million visitors each year, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

When people talk about the Las Vegas Strip, they are usually referring to Las Vegas Boulevard, but it can mean just about anything within a mile or so of the actual Strip. There are many hotels, restaurants and casinos that are located right on the Las Vegas Strip. The fountains, bright lights and amazing architecture have become some of the favorite destinations for those taking advantage of the more pedestrian friendly parts of the Strip. Tourists can be seen snapping pictures in front of the fountain at all hours, but especially at night where the bright lights of Vegas allow for a breathtaking backdrop.

The stunning architecture and various themed resorts have kept visitors pouring into the city. There may be no other area where the buildings are so eye-catching. Many of the newer hotels have been designed to encourage walk in visitors thus the showy displays and over the top designs. The Las Vegas economy is almost entirely tourism based and the city has made real efforts to encourage more than just those interested in gambling to come to the city. Music Superstars Shine Bright on the Las Vegas Strip

Article by Seth Goldsmith

Las Vegas is a great place to see shows, from the dream-like beauty of Cirque Du Soleil productions to Broadway imports like “The Lion King,” “Phantom” and “Jersey Boys” to the crowd pleasing mix of music, comedy and completely unique antics of “The Blue Man Group.” But Vegas also has a long tradition of hosting iconic stars like Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and that tradition continues today.

Donny and Marie Osmond started their decades-long careers on Vegas stages, and they have a long history with the town. Now the famous brother and sister, lil’ bit country, lil’ bit rock and roll team are headlining their first Vegas residency show in almost 30 years onstage at The Flamingo. The siblings perform seperately for part of the show, but come together in the final section to sing fan favorites like “Deep Purple,” “Morning Side of the Mountain” and “May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day.”

Music icon Barry Manilow wows fans with a career spanning resident show at The Paris. The singer somehow makes his show both big and intimate, as he tells the audience the stories behind hits such as “Looks Like We Made It,” “I Write the Songs,” “Mandy” and, of course, “Copacabana (At the Copa).” Throughout the show, ageless icon’s energy never lags as he shows fans just what a true showman looks like.

Younger music fans can enjoy Tiësto, hailed by many electronic music fans as the greatest DJ in the world, as he performs his once a month residency show at The Joint, the hip concert venue in the resort. Tiësto’s electrifying beats have turned his shows into the must-attend party in a town that knows how to throw a party.

Garth Brooks retired from performing about a decade ago, but when Steve Wynn offered him the use of a private airplane that could whisk him home to Oklahoma after his weekend performances so he could be with his family, the 100 million record selling artist couldn’t refuse. The always sold out shows are intimate affairs, with Garth standing alone on a stage with just a guitar and his set-list of killer hits for a show that makes you feel like you’re watching the superstar jam in his own living room.

Celine Dion performed at Caesars Palace from 2003- 2007, selling out virtually every performance and playing for an amazing 3 million people during the wildly successful run of her “A New Day” show. After taking a few years off to tour the world and spend some time with her family, Celine is back with a brand new show at Caesars, featuring 31 musicians (including her backing band and a full orchestra), a stunning new visual presentation and her mega-hits.

Vegas can also give former stars new leases on life, or at least the life of their careers. Matt Goss, the former singer of British pop sensation Bros, has reinvented himself as the new king of Vegas cool. Taking a cue from Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Goss has made the lounge singer act cool again with his weekend performances where Cleopatra’s Barge in Caesars Palace is converted to “The Gossy Room” for one of the hottest tickets in town. Women love to watch the handsome singer, nicknamed “The Voice” perform, but guys won’t mind checking out the show for Gossy’s sexy backup dancers, handpicked by the show’s producer and the mastermind behind the Pussycat Dolls, Robin Antin.

Fans of classic music can enjoy the doo-wop hits of The Platters, the mix of doo wop, rock ‘n’ roll and R and B from Cornell Gunter’s Coasters and girl group pioneers The Marvellettes. These classic groups play together on one stage every night at The Rio and will provide you with a nostalgic night of timeless music.

As if that wasn’t enough, guitar legend Carlos Santana is launching his own residency at The Hard Rock Hotel later this year with the career spanning show “Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through The Hits.” Santana just adds to the star wattage of the amazing group of headliners in Las Vegas, who light up Sin City brighter than even the beam shining from the top of Luxor.

Are You Game to Gamble on the Las Vegas Strip?

Article by Paul Buchanan

It stands to reason that the first thing most people think of when they think of Las Vegas is gambling. After all there are dozens of casinos here, most of which are located along the Las Vegas Strip itself.

In addition to this each casino is part of a major hotel, or vice versa. There is really no such thing as a small hotel or casino in Las Vegas – they are all big or bigger!

Most people are tempted to have at least the odd flutter when they come to Las Vegas, because gambling is a major part of what Vegas is all about. But with so many casinos and hotels to choose from, it can be difficult to know what to expect.

The first thing to remember is that you will very likely have a casino wherever you have booked to stay. This is true at least if you are staying in a hotel; some other types of accommodation off the Strip itself won’t have casinos on site. Since most places are close to the Strip, you won’t have far to go anyway to find a casino to play in.

The most important thing to remember is that it is very easy to get caught up in the lights and glamour of Vegas. With some people gambling away thousands of dollars every day, it is all too easy to gamble more than you can afford when you enter the casinos. It is said that there are no clocks or ways you can tell what time of day or night it is in these casinos. Always wear a watch so you know what time it is – it can be very easy to get caught up in the drama and excitement of it all otherwise.

Before you go into a casino make sure you have a budget in mind that you can stick to. Never go beyond this because if you do you could end up seriously out of pocket. Find out what the minimum bets are if you are going to try a table game like blackjack or poker, and do the same with the slot machines as well. This should make life a lot easier for you because you can gauge how far your budget will go.

You don’t have to spend all your time in Vegas gambling, of course, but most people like to try it at least once, just to get the feel of it. There is always the chance you could bag a big prize to take home as well.

Holidays in Las Vegas can take in all kinds of activities and exciting venues. But you won’t have experienced the history and liveliness of Vegas until you have wagered some cash as well.
